OK, first of all, this is CONFIRMED working on my PSP 3001, and I will make a video shortly, but for now, text will have to do.

HOWEVER, 3002, 3003, 3004 MAY NOT HAVE SUCH GOOD LUCK. YOUR PSP CAN ONLY BE DOWNGRADED TO THE FIRMWARE IT WAS SHIPPED WITH. 3001s WERE SHIPPED WITH 5.00 or 5.03 SO THIS WILL DEFINATELY WORK. KEEP READING IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, AND ARE SATISFIED THAT YOU CAN HACK YOURS.***

First and foremost, you need to be in either 6.31 PRO or 6.35 PRO before starting this tutorial. If you are not, click [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and watch that tutorial, and get into 6.31 or 6.35 PRO.

Next, you need to download the file below, it is Davee's Downgrader, it is SIGNED, so it can run on OFW, but you need to check the MODULE of your PSP. If it is 03g you can continue, if it is 04G, STOP, you will brick. To get the module checker, click below:

Now, once you check to make sure you have a 03g module, and not 04g, then you can continue to downgrade to OFW 6.20. This is necessary to get down any further. Click below to download:

Open the file, and connect your PSP to your computer. Drag the PSP folder inside the RAR file you downloaded, and click YES to merge folders. Next you need to download the 6.20 Update. Click [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to download the 6.20 Update. Now open the RAR file you downloaded and connect your PSP to your computer. Open the PSP folder, then the GAME folder, and take the EBOOT file in the RAR, and make a folder inside GAME called UPDATE, and put the EBOOT in there.

Now you are ready to downgrade. Go to your XMB, and run the 6.35 DOWNGRADER program. Follow the on screen prompts, and your PSP will be rebooted directly into the 6.20 Update. Follow the instructions and DOWN DATE your PSP to 6.20.

Once you are in 6.20, you need to install 6.20 TN-B HEN so that you can downgrade to 5.03 OFFICIAL firmware. You also need Half Byte Loader to be able to run the HEN. You need to download a BUNCH of stuff, so click all the links below, and download all the associated files:

Now this is where it gets a bit complex. Connect your PSP to your computer. You need to Open the RAR file for Half Byte Loader, put the HBL folder and the h.bin file on the ROOT of your memory stick. Not inside any folders, where the folders start. Next open up the Save game ZIP file, and put the folder called UCUS98732_DATA02 inside the PSP/GAME/SAVEDATA folder. Now, lastly, open up the file called patapon2.zip and put the UCUS98734 folder inside of PSP/GAME. Also open up the .zip for TN-B and drag the PSP folder onto the ROOT of you memory stick, and click YES to merge all folders. Now go back to the XMB

Go to the Game section of your XMB, go to memory stick, and find the Patapon 2 demo. Run it. It will say that it didnt find saved data, and ask if you want to create one, click yes or no, it doesnt matter. Now when Patapon 2 loads, select "Continue" and load the Saved Data that you downloaded (its called Wolo's March, or some shit like that) now you will see a screen that says "Press any button" press X, and then wait like 1 1/2 seconds and press R. It will then Exploit your PSP, and show a list of homebrew:


Select HEN from the list, and it will return you to the XMB, check in Settings>System Settings>System Information and it should say "6.20 TN-B HEN" and your MAC should be all zeros. Now comes the fun part, downgrading to 5.03.

What you want to do now, is download the file below:

And make a folder on the ROOT of your memory stick, called SEPLUGINS, open that RAR file, and put the file Version.txt INSIDE Seplugins. Now go back to your XMB and Press SELECT. Your TN-HEN VSH Menu will pop up. You want to do two things. Make sure that "Fake INDEX.DAT" is set to ENABLED, and then press RESTART VSH. Your PSP will restart. Now download the 5.03 Update, below:

Open the .ZIP file you downloaded, connect your PSP, and go to the PSP/GAME folder. If there is a folder in there called UPDATE, DELETE it, make a new one, called UPDATE, and put the file inside the 5.03 .ZIP file inside the UPDATE folder. Now go back to the XMB.

Go to the game section of your XMB, and inside Memory Stick, you will see the 5.03 Update, run it. Follow the onscreen directions, and you will be down to 5.03. It will restart. Now you have to use ChickHEN R2 to enable CFW. Click below to download ChickHEN R2:

Now download that, open it up. You should see H.BIN, and a folder called PHAT and SLIM. Assuming you have a PSP 3000 we want SLIM. Connect your PSP. Put H.BIN on the root of your stick, if you already have an H.BIN file, replace it with the NEW ONE that is ChickHEN R2. Next open the SLIM folder inside of the file you downloaded, and put the folder called ChickHEN inside of the PICTURE folder on your memory stick.

Disconnect your PSP, and go to the XMB. Go to Settings > System Settings and make sure UMD AutoStart is OFF, and UMD Cache is OFF. Now go to the Picture section of your XMB. Press X on the Memory stick one, then quickly press X on the ChickHEN folder, and HOLD DOWN ON THE DIRECTIONAL PAD to scroll all the way down to the bottom of all the pics. If done correctly, your screen will flash all kinds of weird colors, and then Reboot. Now you are in 5.03 ChickHEN R2. Now all you have left to do, is install 5.03 GEN B FULL.

Download the file below:

Connect your PSP to your PC, open the .zip file, and drag the folder called PSP inside the .zip onto the root of your memory stick, click ok to MERGE ALL FOLDERS. Disconnect your PSP, and go to the game section of your XMB. Run the 5.03 Gen B updater.

Congrats, you just went from 6.3x to 5.03 Gen. You're welcome and REP +

NOTE: This doesnt FULLY hack a PSP 3000, as there is NO WAY to permanently install CFW, and whenever your PSP loses power completely (battery dies, you freeze in a game) you have to redo the ChickHEN R2 exploit, and run the 5.03 GEN B Full patch, so DO NOT DELETE THOSE FILES FROM YOUR MEMORY STICK. To update:

I successfully helped RUBBA hack his 3001 last night using this method. I helped UNLIMITED get to 6.20 but then we ran into a problem. For some reason, after entering TN-B and TN-C HEN, we couldn't get the 5.03 Update to start, even with the 5.00 Version.txt in SEPLUGINS, and with Fake INDEX.DAT Enabled. I researched it a bit, and im not fully sure why this is happening, but a lot of people listed this as the result of them trying to run a 5.03 update while in 6.3x PRO. I'm not sure if the two are related, or if somehow, faking the version and faking index.dat is for some reason just not working.

I will post the outcome when I get to work on this some more with Unlimited.

how i fixed:

i had 6.20(i know this is about downgrading 6.31 but lets say i was at 6.31 and already downgraded to 6.20) and i used TN-C to downgrade to 5.03

i had a problem spoofing my firmware so i can use the update(downdate) for 5.03

i put 3.70 version .txt in and it worked

Yes, but like I said already, if it is a 04g module, and you try to downgrade to 5.03 you will absolutely 100% BRICK, no doubts about it.

I had a psp 4g.
I ran the update. Didn't brick just shut off.
This was before I used PSPident and knew it could brick.

Module Checker is the easiest way to go, because i used PSPIdent on a 2000, just to check it, and based on PSPIdent, it wasnt hackable (fully) but based on the Serial # it was. PSPIdent happened to be wrong, and the Serial # was right. Put m33 on that PSP, so i know Ident was incorrect. I just dont trust it.

lol maybe your psp out smarted it , i just like PSPident because it takes a picture of it so you dont need to remember all the stuff. and i think the new pspident fixed some errors

Yea maybe, i dunno, the module checker is one screen, one thing spit out. It obviously doesnt work on anything other than 3000s, because the 2000 module is hackable even if it is 088v3, so it doesnt matter. The difference with the module in the 3000 is indicative of the firmware the PSP was shipped with

Also, I made a Serial # checker for 2000s to tell the motherboard, so i have no use for Ident

There is no way, currently, to hack or downgrade 6.37. I am sure that they are working on it, and someone will eventually find a hole in 6.37, but because of the popularity of 6.20 TN and 6.35 PRO B, I don't think many people are paying attention to 6.37 like they once were. The exploit that Davee found for downgrading from 6.35 to 6.20 was EPIC and you probably will NOT see another exploit like that. Once he released it, he gave Sony everything they needed to patch it up, and make sure it doesnt happen again.

HOW DO I REP YOU?!?! >.< And is it bad that when i don't get the exploit to work, my psp shuts off? I get it to work most of the time though. And I can get my Snes emu to work without updating the Gen B-Full. Is the Gen B update just for more advanced homebrew?

Dude, use the 5.03 KXPloit to do the ChickHEN exploit, it is a signed EBOOT, runs right off the memory stick from the game section of the XMB. Check the homebrew section of this site, or my YouTube channel to get it working.
