OK, first of all, this is CONFIRMED working on my PSP 3001, and I will make a video shortly, but for now, text will have to do.

HOWEVER, 3002, 3003, 3004 MAY NOT HAVE SUCH GOOD LUCK. YOUR PSP CAN ONLY BE DOWNGRADED TO THE FIRMWARE IT WAS SHIPPED WITH. 3001s WERE SHIPPED WITH 5.00 or 5.03 SO THIS WILL DEFINATELY WORK. KEEP READING IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, AND ARE SATISFIED THAT YOU CAN HACK YOURS.***

First and foremost, you need to be in either 6.31 PRO or 6.35 PRO before starting this tutorial. If you are not, click [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and watch that tutorial, and get into 6.31 or 6.35 PRO.

Next, you need to download the file below, it is Davee's Downgrader, it is SIGNED, so it can run on OFW, but you need to check the MODULE of your PSP. If it is 03g you can continue, if it is 04G, STOP, you will brick. To get the module checker, click below:

Now, once you check to make sure you have a 03g module, and not 04g, then you can continue to downgrade to OFW 6.20. This is necessary to get down any further. Click below to download:

Open the file, and connect your PSP to your computer. Drag the PSP folder inside the RAR file you downloaded, and click YES to merge folders. Next you need to download the 6.20 Update. Click [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to download the 6.20 Update. Now open the RAR file you downloaded and connect your PSP to your computer. Open the PSP folder, then the GAME folder, and take the EBOOT file in the RAR, and make a folder inside GAME called UPDATE, and put the EBOOT in there.

Now you are ready to downgrade. Go to your XMB, and run the 6.35 DOWNGRADER program. Follow the on screen prompts, and your PSP will be rebooted directly into the 6.20 Update. Follow the instructions and DOWN DATE your PSP to 6.20.

Once you are in 6.20, you need to install 6.20 TN-B HEN so that you can downgrade to 5.03 OFFICIAL firmware. You also need Half Byte Loader to be able to run the HEN. You need to download a BUNCH of stuff, so click all the links below, and download all the associated files:

Now this is where it gets a bit complex. Connect your PSP to your computer. You need to Open the RAR file for Half Byte Loader, put the HBL folder and the h.bin file on the ROOT of your memory stick. Not inside any folders, where the folders start. Next open up the Save game ZIP file, and put the folder called UCUS98732_DATA02 inside the PSP/GAME/SAVEDATA folder. Now, lastly, open up the file called patapon2.zip and put the UCUS98734 folder inside of PSP/GAME. Also open up the .zip for TN-B and drag the PSP folder onto the ROOT of you memory stick, and click YES to merge all folders. Now go back to the XMB

Go to the Game section of your XMB, go to memory stick, and find the Patapon 2 demo. Run it. It will say that it didnt find saved data, and ask if you want to create one, click yes or no, it doesnt matter. Now when Patapon 2 loads, select "Continue" and load the Saved Data that you downloaded (its called Wolo's March, or some shit like that) now you will see a screen that says "Press any button" press X, and then wait like 1 1/2 seconds and press R. It will then Exploit your PSP, and show a list of homebrew:


Select HEN from the list, and it will return you to the XMB, check in Settings>System Settings>System Information and it should say "6.20 TN-B HEN" and your MAC should be all zeros. Now comes the fun part, downgrading to 5.03.

What you want to do now, is download the file below:

And make a folder on the ROOT of your memory stick, called SEPLUGINS, open that RAR file, and put the file Version.txt INSIDE Seplugins. Now go back to your XMB and Press SELECT. Your TN-HEN VSH Menu will pop up. You want to do two things. Make sure that "Fake INDEX.DAT" is set to ENABLED, and then press RESTART VSH. Your PSP will restart. Now download the 5.03 Update, below:

Open the .ZIP file you downloaded, connect your PSP, and go to the PSP/GAME folder. If there is a folder in there called UPDATE, DELETE it, make a new one, called UPDATE, and put the file inside the 5.03 .ZIP file inside the UPDATE folder. Now go back to the XMB.

Go to the game section of your XMB, and inside Memory Stick, you will see the 5.03 Update, run it. Follow the onscreen directions, and you will be down to 5.03. It will restart. Now you have to use ChickHEN R2 to enable CFW. Click below to download ChickHEN R2:

Now download that, open it up. You should see H.BIN, and a folder called PHAT and SLIM. Assuming you have a PSP 3000 we want SLIM. Connect your PSP. Put H.BIN on the root of your stick, if you already have an H.BIN file, replace it with the NEW ONE that is ChickHEN R2. Next open the SLIM folder inside of the file you downloaded, and put the folder called ChickHEN inside of the PICTURE folder on your memory stick.

Disconnect your PSP, and go to the XMB. Go to Settings > System Settings and make sure UMD AutoStart is OFF, and UMD Cache is OFF. Now go to the Picture section of your XMB. Press X on the Memory stick one, then quickly press X on the ChickHEN folder, and HOLD DOWN ON THE DIRECTIONAL PAD to scroll all the way down to the bottom of all the pics. If done correctly, your screen will flash all kinds of weird colors, and then Reboot. Now you are in 5.03 ChickHEN R2. Now all you have left to do, is install 5.03 GEN B FULL.

Connect your PSP to your PC, open the .zip file, and drag the folder called PSP inside the .zip onto the root of your memory stick, click ok to MERGE ALL FOLDERS. Disconnect your PSP, and go to the game section of your XMB. Run the 5.03 Gen B updater.

Congrats, you just went from 6.3x to 5.03 Gen. You're welcome and REP +

NOTE: This doesnt FULLY hack a PSP 3000, as there is NO WAY to permanently install CFW, and whenever your PSP loses power completely (battery dies, you freeze in a game) you have to redo the ChickHEN R2 exploit, and run the 5.03 GEN B Full patch, so DO NOT DELETE THOSE FILES FROM YOUR MEMORY STICK. Enjoy.

Hmm... im not sure, i wasn't really into PSX's when I was in 5.03 GEN... GEN C is basically just bug fixes to GEN B, I would recommend installing it.

Ok, here are your options.


Option 1: Update your PSP 3000 to 6.20, and install 6.20 PRO B5 which has built in POPsLoader and PSX support.

That is supposedly a POPsLoader for 5.03 GEN. You have to open the file and copy the popsloader folder, POPS.txt and popsloader.prx into your SEPLUGINS folder (no need to replace your SEPLUGINS folder, just put those three things in there). Then when you start up a PSX EBOOT it should start no problem.
NOTE: I HAVE NEVER TRIED OPTION 2 AND IT MAY NOT WORK AND/OR MAY NOT BE SAFE, YOU DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Uhg.. I've caught the cfw bug... What do you suggest I do to improve my firmware as much as possible? (I've read bits about m33, kernel support, etc. not knowing what they are)

And my previous ramblings were somewhat distracting, so what might i delete after installing the gen-C?

Everytime I reach the point where I have to press R, it freezes and cuts off...

If i do not press it, the psp still functions...I can hit R two minutes after and as soon as I do that, It goes Dead....

did you check to see what motherboard you have??.....i do believe that the 04g and up are not compatible...just a suggestion, forget about 5.03 GEN and upgrade to 6.20 PRO-B5 Perm....its takes 15 minutes to do and it will solve all your problems, plus no more running hen every time your psp resets....its like having a fully hacked psp and its 10 times better than GEN....trust me, its waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy easier than the process this HEN shiit involves, (and you only have to do it once)....check out our PSP Tutorial section and find the video tutorial that SwoRN posted for upgrading to 6.20 PRO-B4...im pretty sure he added the PRO-B5 Perm patch/update in the description for the video...contact us if you still have problems.

And Sanedem....yes people mean 3001 when they say "3000"....and i suggest to you the same thing i just told silentarts, forget about GEN and UPGRADE TO 6.20 PRO-B5!!!!!

i have a problem if you can help me with it. I finished all the steps and got 5.03 Gen, i was so excited because i had a monster hunter portable 3rd thing in my games file that i was dying to play, but when i clicked on it, it went to a black screen with 3 lines of sentences (forgot what it said, something like monster hunter portable 3rd (JP). iso and then i forgot the other two). so i waited for a while and it wasnt doing anything so it just rebooted and i turned it on and i know that i was just a version 5.03 again so i tried doing the picture thing but instead of flashes, it just froze and shutdown. When i turned it back on, i was still a 5.03 . pls help

Yea, ChickHEN is a cunt sometimes. Try using the 5.03 KXploit, its in the homebrew section, it does ChickHEN's job a whole hell of alot more quickly.

kxpoilt is a signed homebrew, start it up then your last cfw would load up
